Cold pressed hemp seed oil is a translucent, slightly green vegetable oil that has been called natures most perfectly balanced oil. The oil derives from cold pressed extraction, so it is not exposed to excessive heat or harsh chemicals during processing.Hemp seed oil also has a very high fat content, with the majority being polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). These PUFAs are a unique blend of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, which are involved in a wide variety of metabolic processes, involving many different body systems.These fatty acids are also a natural complement to the omega 5 fatty acid cetylmyristoleate already present in Myristol products.

Hemp oil also contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and stearidonic acid (SDA). GLA, which is not found in other edible vegetable oils, metabolizes into PGE1, which may be beneficial for hindgut health in horses. SDA is a precursor to EPA and DHA, the longer chain fatty acids found in fish oils.

With its high PUFA content, along with Vit E and other minerals, and phytosterols, phospholipids, and carotenes, hemp seed oil makes a quality nutrient and efficient energy addition to a horses diet.
