Description: Formed in Liverpool, Dead or Alive emerged from the UKs post-punk and club scenes, led by the flamboyant Pete Burns. Sophisticated Boom Boom, their debut album, was released in 1984 and leaned heavily into gothic-tinged new wave before the band embraced the high-energy dance-pop style that later made them famous. Recorded during a transitional period in British pop, it captures the blend of underground club aesthetics and mainstream ambition that defined early 80s synth-driven music. For collectors, it represents the roots of a band that would soon leave a major mark on international pop.
